Our approach
We want learners to be able to use Barnes IP Training regardless of disability or the technology they use.
We aim to design and develop the website and learning service with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA in mind.
This includes, where reasonably possible:
- clear page structure and headings;
- keyboard-accessible navigation and controls;
- readable text and sufficient contrast;
- meaningful labels for forms and controls;
- captions or transcripts for narrated course material;
- text alternatives for important images;
- course documents that can be read using assistive technology; and
- layouts that work at different screen sizes and levels of zoom.
Course materials
Some teaching materials may use diagrams, patent documents, examination papers or other source material whose original format was not designed for accessibility.
Where this creates a barrier, please contact us. We will consider a reasonable alternative format or adjustment.
Reasonable adjustments
If a disability makes it difficult for you to use the website or take part in a course, please tell us what would help.
Reasonable adjustments may include providing material in a different format, supplying transcripts or accessible copies of documents, or making reasonable changes to the way course material is provided.
We do not charge learners for reasonable adjustments.
Tell us about an accessibility problem
If you cannot access part of the website or a course, email phil@barnesiptraining.co.uk.
It helps if you tell us:
- the page, course or material you were trying to use;
- what went wrong;
- any assistive technology you were using, if relevant; and
- the format or adjustment that would help.
We will look into the problem and, where reasonably possible, provide an accessible alternative or make an appropriate adjustment.
Ongoing improvement
We review accessibility as we develop courses and platform features.
We use accessibility testing and problems reported by learners to identify and prioritise improvements.
We will update this page as our service and accessibility work develop.
